Op-Ed | Bitcoin is Good Money

By NICK TOMAINO

If you acknowledge that money is simply a language to communicate value, you quickly realise that bitcoin stacks up well, argues Nick Tomaino.

SAN FRANCISCO, United States — Money is generally misunderstood, which contributes to the confusion about bitcoin as a digital currency. If you acknowledge that money is simply a language to communicate value and you evaluate bitcoin objectively on the six important characteristics of money that are taught in a basic economics course, you quickly realise that bitcoin stacks up well against any form of money that has ever existed.

EX-CEO OF UBS & CREDIT SUISSE: BITCOIN GOOD BUY LONG-TERM

By Evander Smart

As an old banker myself, I’ve looked at Bitcoin’s financial implications for years and see endless potential. Could it all be the 21st century’s version of the “Tulip Mania” from the 17th century? This desperate dig by Bitcoin antagonists is still a slim possibility, but that feeble argument is starting to fade like the flower itself. Bitcoin is showing it’s influenced by law enforcement, e-commerce, Wall Street investment, technological advancement and much more.
Ex-CEO of UBS & Credit Suisse: Bitcoin Good Buy Long-TermAnd venture capital, from major players, is running into the hundreds of millions on a monthly basis. It is slowly starting to dawn on the movers and shakers that Bitcoin is not going anywhere, and its only a matter of time before it influences your industry directly. And market leaders the world over are speaking out on what digital currency means to the world in our increasingly digital future.
Bitcoin will have the most trouble entering an arena where fiat currency rules with an iron hand, like banking, since digital currency and fiat currency have a matter/anti-matter relationship. That doesn’t mean leading bankers can ignore it as irrelevant or non-influential. A major part of banking is capital investment in commodities, and few have the growth potential of Bitcoin. Bankers love money, and who says the money they desire has only to be fiat?

Bitcoin Finds a Place Among the World’s Elite

By

bitcoinMore famous for being a renegade alternative to a world currency, bitcoin has managed to find a more prominent role among the global elite at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
The Alpine resort plays host to a slew of policymakers, economists, and central bankers every year. Topics usually include global growth, inequality, and climate change but the nascent industry of digital currencies has managed to eke out a place on this year’s agenda.
“From bucks to bitcoins,” is the title of the seminar due at Davos on a Friday afternoon. It explores how the mainstreaming of digital finance could disrupt financial services and transform consumer behavior. This is a far cry from last year, when the most notable mention of the cryptocurrrency was when it was openly criticized by Treasury Secretary Jack Lew and JPMorgan Chairman and CEO Jamie Dimon on CNBC.

THE FEDERAL RESERVE BITCOIN STRATEGY

By Alex Gorale

fishThis morning The Federal Reserve Bitcoin Strategy was released in a paper outlining multiple options for improving the U.S. payment system.
In the past, Digital currency had been deemed too immature. Now, after pressure from private sector interests, the Fed is seriously analyzing the benefit of incorporating Bitcoin code in the U.S. fiat system.
“A U.S. payment system that is safe, efficient and broadly accessible is vital to the U.S. economy… the Federal Reserve plays an important role in promoting these qualities as a leader, catalyst for change and provider of payment services…”

Virtual Currencies Hit the World Stage: Bitcoin’s Ever-Evolving Legal Status

By

legalmap
Congratulations, virtual currency world—New York wants to expressly regulate you! That’s how important Bitcoin and other digital currencies have become in recent years. And as we know, what happens in New York’s financial world often has implications for the wider world. All the recent attention New York has paid to virtual currency is raising many important legal questions, with potentially profound implications. This article will offer a brief survey of just some of them.

A Cryptic History of Money

Bitcoin is the latest and best known in a long line of digital currencies. The basic premise of digital currencies is that they try to establish a medium of exchange based on immutable mathematics, thus putting the currency beyond the control or manipulation of any government. Not long after the computer was invented people started discussing the development of currency based on that series of zeroes and ones called “bits.”

Advantage of Joining Bitclub Network

If you pay attention to Bitcoin in the news you know there is never a dull moment. Just about everyday something big happens in this industry both good and bad.

It's important not to get caught up in the daily price swings and roller coaster that is Bitcoin. We have to remind ourselves that we're dedicating our time and energy towards one of the most exciting inventions of our time, and even though Bitcoin is now 5 years old we're all still very early adopters.

Many experts predict Bitcoin is going to explode in 2015 and with over $300 million invested into crypto currency projects in 2014 we are about to see some serious innovation hitting the market this year.

What does this mean for the members of BitClub Network?

It means its members will help bring Bitcoin to the masses. BitClub has created an easy way for you to share this and accumulate your own Bitcoin fortune in the process. The great part is that BitClub is just getting started!

Their focus this year is going to be on rapid expansion and building tools that will help get millions of people using Bitcoin (even if they don't join BitClub). They want to help bring this technology to the masses because the more people who are using Bitcoin and the higher daily transaction volumes become the more the industry will need miners like Bitclub Network.

Bitcoin is the Future of Money

Bitcoin is here... in a BIG way. It's growing, no matter what people say. Many love to point out when the price goes down, but they stay silent when the price increases. In the last couple days we've seen an 5% increase in market value per BTC.
In spite of the overall decline in BTC value, the infrastructure of bitcoin continues to grow. Over $330MM in Venture Capital was invested into cryptocurrency in 2014, that's over 340% increase from the prior year.
Microsoft, Dell, Dish Network, Expedia, New Egg, Overstock, Tiger Direct, are just a few of the companies that now accept Bitcoin same as cash. At the current rate of growth, there could be over 1 million companies and businesses globally accepting Bitcoin.
Knowledge is power.  Stay current in the market.  Bitcoin is a Game Changer.

On a side note, I'm fortunate to be involved with Bitclub Network.  We earn daily profits from mining altcoins and exchanging them into Bitcoin.  Get more information on Bitclub Network today.

Gold Dealer Amagi Metals Now Pays All Staff in Bitcoin

By  (@sanne_wass)

Precious metals dealer Amagi Metals announced it is now paying its entire staff in bitcoin via payroll service provider Bitwage.
The move forms part of the company's plan to 'divorce' the US dollar by 2017, where it will stop accepting the fiat currency as payment method.
Amagi Metals has worked with bitcoin for two years and, according to company data, 30-40% of its costumers currently pay with the digital currency.
Speaking to CoinDesk, CEO Stephen Macaskill said he wanted to find a company that could handle bitcoin payroll seamlessly and test it with his own paycheck. Later, he put the proposition to others at Amagi:

Cubits App Launch Aims to Accelerate Bitcoin Buying in Europe

By

Cubits has launched a web app designed to speed up and simplify bitcoin transactions.
Notably, the London-based cryptocurrency startup allows customers to buy bitcoin in minutes, making it one of the fastest digital currency platforms in Europe, according to the company.
"We want to speed up the process of getting bitcoin and making online payments fair and accessible, especially for merchants and charities that could really benefit from lower fees," said Andreas Lehrbaum, co-founder of Cubits and the co-founding chairman of Bitcoin Austria.

Why Are So Few Black People Using Bitcoin?

By

Edwardo Jackson will gladly drop a Bitcoin primer on anyone who's curious. Beyond his outer enthusiasm for the digital currency—when he talks about Bitcoin, he speeds up as if discussing a newly-discovered oil reserve in his backyard—he loves trading it and tracking its movement in the markets.

In 2013, Jackson, a 39-year-old Las Vegas-based pro poker player and former writer for Upworthy, started spreading the gospel of the currency via his blog, Blacks in Bitcoin, where he claimed that he would “spontaneously combust” if he had no other outlet to voice his obsession with the digital barter.

BITCOIN PRICE FALLS BELOW $300

By  Giulio Prisco

So, it happened. After some time moving in a narrow range in the low $300s, Bitcoin price has plunged below $300.
This new Bitcoin price crash at the beginning of 2015 is is a continuation of the downward trend of last year – in 2014, Bitcoin has been the worst performing currency in the world, as far as the price charts are concerned.
Though, if you just open your mind to a 14-month window instead of a 12-month window, Bitcoin Price has performed much better. Try to keep this in mind.
The year-end status of Bitcoin Price is very bad news for speculators, especially for those who purchased their bitcoins one year ago when the price was above $1000, hoping to sell at a profit soon, and have seen Bitcoin price steadily going down instead.

Is Bitcoin fully virtual and immaterial?

Bitcoin is as virtual as the credit cards and online banking networks people use everyday. Bitcoin can be used to pay online and in physical stores just like any other form of money.

Bitcoins can also be exchanged in physical form such as the Casascius coins, but paying with a mobile phone usually remains more convenient. Bitcoin balances are stored in a large distributed network, and they cannot be fraudulently altered by anybody. In other words, Bitcoin users have exclusive control over their funds and bitcoins cannot vanish just because they are virtual.

The universe wants one money

By Oleg Andreev
In this post I address issues of competing government currencies, competing private currencies, gold, silver, bitcoin and alternative “crypto-currencies”.

We all know that variety and competion is a good thing. We all want slightly different things, value the same things differently or make different trade-offs. That’s why we have a wide variety of products, prices, quality, colors and materials on the market. Interestingly, money is different. We all want one single universal money. It may not be obvious to many people, so let me explain.

How money is different from everything else? On one hand, money is just an asset. You can produce, buy, sell or hold it. On the other hand, money is a medium of exchange. It allows you to trade your 8 hours in the office for a new iPhone. It also allows you to delay consumption decision. You can spend 8 hours of work today, but then be free to decide when and for what to spend your salary. If suddenly you need to buy a ticket to Hong Kong, you can do it without working extra couple of hours to earn it.

BTXDeals Is An Online Marketplace For Blowing Bitcoin

By
Got some Bitcoin burning a hole in your virtual wallet? There’s an online marketplace for that… U.K.-based BTXDeals.com has just launched an e-tail website where sellers are offering goods and services to buy with Bitcoin.
The Bitcoin marketplace is the work of U.K. entrepreneur Nick Boardman, who was an early mover in electronics ecommerce in the U.K., founding the Rock brand laptop and e-tail business back in the 1990s. He’s now jumping on the early adopter Bitcoin bandwagon.

Fancy a private charter from Biggin Hill in the U.K. to Nice in France? That’ll be just over 78 BTC at current exchange rates. What about a Dell 24 inch display? A mere 0.9437 BTC. How about a golf trolley for your clubs? 1.9714 BTC.
